THE ADAPTATION ENGINE - executive meeting

Worldbuilding and storyworld thinking are vital for modern adaptations in film, games, and literature, widely used in Hollywood and big-budget games. However, the Danish media industry can benefit from these methods as well. In this meeting you will be presented to brand new research and a panel of Danish and American media creatives working with worldbuilding and adaptations in film, documentary, animation, litterature and games.

Over the past two years, the National Film School of Denmark has explored a new method for using universe development to adapt IPs across media.

At “The Executive Meeting,” the film school invites selected decision-makers and guests from leading film studios, TV companies, game studios, publishing houses, and educational institutions to an afternoon event where this method will be presented.

At the meeting, you will be introduced to:

  • The Adaptation Engine method
  • Insights from companies and researchers working with multinational IPs for Amazon, Netflix, Electronic Arts, and more
  • Three specific Danish cases where, over the past year, Danish companies have applied this method to develop universes and adapt content across film, TV series, books, documentaries, animation, and games
  • A keynote interview by Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Joshua Rubin, who brings over 20 years of experience in worldbuilding and transmedia storytelling for some of the world’s leading game and streaming companies.

The Adaptation Engine is supported by Vision Denmark and the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science.
