The masterclass will offer an exploration of serial dramaturgy, a storytelling approach distinct from traditional cinematic techniques. With over three decades of experience as a playwright, screenwriter, and creative producer for major European broadcasters and production companies, Nicola brings unparalleled insight into the development of serial narratives.
Drawing on his expertise, including his roles as Head of Development at The Apartment Pictures (Sofia Coppola’s ‘Priscilla’, Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘The Hand of God’) and Head of Content at Our Films, Nicola will delve into the core "serial engines" that sustain long-form storytelling. These include their technical foundations, aesthetic objectives, and thematic possibilities, as well as the unique development processes they require.
Nicola Lusuardi is a recognised authority in serial storytelling, teaching at institutions such as SerialEyes in Berlin and Centro Sperimentale in Rome. He has authored ‘La Rivoluzione Seriale’, an essential text on the subject, and continues to shape the future of serial content through his teaching and creative work.
This afternoon will be particularly valuable for those aiming to deepen their understanding of serial storytelling—writers, producers, and creatives seeking to refine their approach to narrative design for television and digital platforms.
Please note that Nicola Lusuardi also offers a two-day workshop, where six selected series writers will collaborate with Nicola to assess and analyse their original projects. This hands-on workshop will focus on identifying effective development paths, helping participants strengthen their ideas and align them with the demands of the serial form.
Please note: There will be coffee and tea upon arrival.
